Milkweed is the only host plant the Monarch Butterfly (Danaeus plexippus). Monarchs will find this plant to lay their eggs on. As caterpillars emerge, they will eat this plant until they form a chrysalis.

The flowering portions of the plant provide food for pollinators.

Planting instructions: Seeds require cold stratification. Plant under shallow amounts of soil in ground or containers.
